We believe that every pieces of jewellery should tell a story, embodying the essence of the artist and the material, so to does our artist entries in Flotsam +Jetsam. A dedication infused into a creation and encapsulating the beauty of the material and its origin. We hope your artworks offer you a freedom and determination to follow your dreams. Welcome to the circus
Step right up and enter the world of the circus! Be inspired by the magic under the big top. Tightropes to trapeze, clowns to magicians, tricks and treasures, we invite you to explore the magic and mystery of circus life. Let your imagination soar with the greatest showman-style spectacle, from dazzling sideshows to swirling fairy floss and popcorn.
Explore the many facets of circus life:
• The Performers: Trapeze artists soaring through the air, magicians pulling off daring illusions, and clowns ranging from friendly to frightening.
• The Animals: Reflect on the history of animal performances, from lions on podiums to the ethical considerations of modern times.
• The Spectacle: The glitz and glamour of the big top, contrasted with the unique and sometimes controversial sideshows of the past.
• The Experience: Popcorn, fairy floss, and hotdogs galore – capture the sights, sounds, and tastes of the circus.
Show the positive or not-so-positive aspects of circus life, from the awe-inspiring feats of the greatest showmen to the darker sides of the freak shows of the past. The circus is your stage – and the show is about to begin!
Please note: Artist may create ANY piece of artwork using Flotsam + Jetsam, whether they have used the theme as an inspiration or not. In the past, our artists have loved a theme but we encourage ‘freedom to create’ and welcome all entries.
We believe that art has the power to make a positive impact on the world. By participating in this event, you’ll be sharing your creativity and helping us raise awareness about the importance of protecting our oceans and beaches.
